ADVANCED TRAIN THE TRAINER: WET DEMONSTRATION

Attendees and duration

Each session lasts for approximately 4 ½ hours, with maximum delegate numbers of 4 per session.

Course Objectives

1. To provide trainers with an adequate level of subject knowledge.
2. To impart confidence to train colleagues to achieve a safe level of spill response.
3. To demonstrate understanding and proper use of all site spill response equipment

Course Outline

• Causes and types of spills.
• Identification and use of spill kit content
• How to effectively deploy spill kit contents. (this includes a wet practical product demonstration held outside using water and the companies spill response products to demonstrate some simple product deployment techniques.
• Develop simple workstation spill planning.
• Emphasise responder safety.
• The importance of spill containment.
• Recovery, clean up and disposal of residues.
• Reporting and analysis.

A pass/fail questionnaire will be presented as conclusion. A 70% pass will be required.
Attendees will be expected to actively participate in the course work and will be required to prepare and make a short presentation of the topics to their peer group.
Attendees are encouraged to openly participate in the course, learn, enjoy, question, and contribute.

All information seen and passed during the course is supplied on a memory stick to each attendee.

Client Provision

• Suitable venue.

Internal

o A training room with sufficient seated room with space to effectively carry out dry demonstration for 4 attendees.
o A method of viewing a ppt presentation from a laptop either a projector and screen or TV with Vega and/or HDMI connections. Flip chart & pens, DVD system. All course materials are provided on a memory stick including a ready for use training course.

External

o A hard surface area about 3 to 4 metres wide and about 6 metres long, coned off to traffic if appropriate.
o A gentle slope within the area would be a preferred option. This area will be required for about 40 mins during each course and should not be too far from the training room.
o A water supply as a source to simulate spills. This is best provided by a hosepipe or clean IBC or drum at least half full with clean water. The best position for this can be discussed upon arrival, if the Client can have a forklift truck on standby for a few minutes. Or a driver who is amongst the course attendees
o A shovel, yard broom and some black waste bags for clean-up. Attendees should have suitable clothing in the event of inclement weather.

A range of site absorbents relevant to attendees. You should provide one of your typical site spill kits that attendees will be expected to use when carrying out their colleague training. We will need at least 8 containment socks, 4 pillows and 6 pads. Please make sure that this minimum is contained within the kit that you are making available. Add extra items to make up the difference if not

Validity & Certification

Certificate of attendance awarded to delegates on successful completion of the course and valid for 2 years.
