BOSS Award: Diversity and Inclusion Winner!

We are delighted to announce that we have won this year’s prestigious BOSS Industry Awards spotlighting our work for Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DIBS).

At the start of this year, we took the bold step to launch our DIBS program – the first of its kind for Lyreco, across our entire UK and Ireland business.

Our main objective was to create an environment where everyone felt a sense of belonging, and to empower our employees to ‘bring their whole selves to work’.

We wanted our teams to feel comfortable enough to ask any questions about any topic, and to voice their concerns with the knowledge that Lyreco will always have an open mind and heart. Accepting this award has recognised all our hard work and efforts this year and reinforces our vision for the future.

DIBS Team Members at Lyreco

When setting out our strategy, it was key for us to ensure that the respect and fair treatment of all our people was always kept at the forefront of every decision and action we make.

Our DIBS committee represents the diversity of our employees, with each member of the committee championing key areas: disability ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, and religion.

Each committee member has worked hard this year to drive awareness of these segments with activities such as Parkinson’s Awareness talks, Pride celebrations and food recipes for employees during Chinese New Year. These events created a more inclusive environment, allowing employees to get involved, feel empowered, and encouraging all to share their stories and feel a greater sense of belonging.

Our People and Culture team have also led many initiatives throughout the year, including training eight mental health first aiders with four more planned for 2022 and training all members of the Senior Management Team in Mental Health Awareness. You can read more about our mental health first aiders in our blog.

We are extremely proud of all our achievements this year, including the extension to our internal policies. We must remain relevant, inclusive and support all our employees, which is why throughout 2021 we updated many of our policies to now include Menopause and Transgender policies, Career Breaks, Flexible Working schemes, and shared parental leave.

Accepting this recognition from the BOSS awards this year is a huge testament to all employees across the company who have played a huge part in the creation and maintenance of the positive, supportive working environment at Lyreco.

Jasmyn Allen, People Engagement and Culture Manager said:

‘We are incredibly honoured to accept this year’s Diversity and Inclusion Award! We have many people to thank for bringing DIBS to life at Lyreco. We will be accepting this award on behalf of all 1,400 employees who share our vision and commitment to mental well-being, and who bring their whole selves to work every single day’

This award is a testament to how we have spent the last 12 months living our values:
