What Waterproof Rating do you need?

The minimum rating for a jacket to be called rainproof is 5,000mm. 10,000 – 15,000mm: A jacket in this range will withstand most downpours as well as heavy snow, but will soak overtime if subjected to pressure. 20,000mm+ : This is the rating you should look for if you plan to be out in all conditions carrying a heavy load.

Standards & Markings

arrow

This is the standard that tells you how waterproof and breathable a garment is. Both the level of water penetration and breathability are certified to a class; class 1, 2, 3 or 4; the higher the class, the more waterproof or breathable the garment is. The class will be listed as two numbers, for example 3:1, the ‘3’ signifying the level of water penetration, and the ‘1’ denoting the level of breathability. The higher the number, the better protection and comfort you will receive.
